BlackBerry announces that BBM will be released for iOS and Android too

BlackBerry announced during the BlackBerry Live event in Florida, that its popular BBM will be released for iOS and Android for free.

BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins said, "The BB10 platform is so strong and the response has been so good that the time is right for BBM to become an independent mobile messaging platform."

Twitter hacked and 250,000 accounts' logins exposed.

The social media giant Twitter said that it has become the latest victim of cyber-attacks, saying hackers may have gained access to information on 250,000  of its over 200 million active users. The company said in blog post on Friday that it detected attempts to gain access to its user data. It detected and shut down one attack just after it was detected. Twitter found that the attackers may have stolen user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords of around 250,000 users. Twitter reset-ed the passwords of 250,000 users and sent emails advising the affected users.

US site hacked to avenge the death of Aaron Swartz.

The hacktivist group Anonymous hacked the website of US Sentencing Commission to avenge the death of Aaron Swartz, who committed suicide. The site of the commission, an independent agency of the of the judicial branch, was hacked early on Saturday and replaced with a message which warns, when Aaron Swartz committed suicide two weeks ago "a line was crossed." Anonymous say they've infiltrated several government systems and copied secret information that they know threaten to make public. Family and friends of Swartz, who helped to create Reddit and RSS, say he killed himself after he was hounded by federal prosecutors. Officials say he helped to post millions of court documents for free online and that he illegally downloaded millions of academic articles from an online clearinghouse.
